The newborn photoshoot is so very precious and my favourite time to capture your newborn baby is between 6- 12 days young and I go up to 4 weeks. I have found that newborn babies up to 2 weeks sleep far more deeply and soundly after feeds than babies over 2 weeks and certainly before 4 weeks. However, this rule is not hard and fast and if you’ve missed the 2-4 week period and your baby is older, please do get in touch to discuss.
I have a lovely warm studio – images of which can be seent by clicking here -. It’s a large, airy space but I keep it very warm for your little newborn arrival and all shots are taken on a newborn photography beanbag layered with very soft blankets – colours of which you choose.
I publish newborn package options online …. Please click here to view and ALL packages can include as many props and accessories as you like and family/sibling and furry family members can join in too. I cater for those wanting the more natural shots (little to no props) to the more creative newborn art – alot of which can be viewed here on my image gallery. All newborn art (swings, buckets, pails etc) are done in a composite style in photoshop so I don’t balance your baby precariously from branches and swings :). I’ve attached some sample images to this blog so you can see the image taken on the blankets and then the finished composite newborn art shot using these images.
I have lots of lovely outfits and props which I’ve collected over many years … all available for you to choose for your newborn photoshoot at no additonal cost.

Cake Smashing has been very popular for the 1st birthday photoshoot for some time – I myself have been cake smashing since 2010!! 🙂 🙂 … and it’s still as much fun today as it’s awlays been. I do a lot of the cake smash photoshoots but I also do a lot of birthday photoshoots without the mess … so if you’d like a photoshoot without the cakey mess – give me a call or an email (details below) to chat about ideas.
I call my cake smash photoshoots my 3-in-1 HAPPIMESS Shoot as it includes 3 shoots as 1 – the ONE wooden letters, the cake smash followed by the Tub /Splash photoshoot.
It’s such a fun way to celebrate the 1st Birthday.…and at One your baby is full of wonder at everything and very often it’s the first cake they’ve ever tasted … let alone be allowed to smash up and sit on. So the 1st birthday is definitely the best time for the cake smash.

I often get asked ‘when should I book my newborn photoshoot?’ – A lot of customers book in adavance – months in advance … and many others wait for baby to arrive – so the choice is yours. It’s always best to secure a slot and you do not lose your despoit if we have to move you due to an early of late arrival. It’s such a very very precious time for you and your newborn baby that a photoshoot is really a must 🙂

The 1st birthday is a huge milestone and although I do a lot of 1st birthday cake smash photoshoots, for those who don’t want the cake or the mess … I have a lot of other ideas too. See pics below.
My 1st Birthday baby photo sessions are studio based, in my studio in Springhead, Oldham. It’s a bright and friendly environment, specially designed so that it looks like a soft play area for your baby – soft toys and props are on show in the studio so you have lots of choice for your photoshoot. And you are welcome to bring along any props you wish … even your pet / dog if you’d like photos of them together.
On arrival, we discuss the shots that you’d like before we start. I have various backdrops that you can choose from too, many of which can be seen in the gallery of images – to view please click here … OR visit my Facebook page for lots more ideas and images …. also too my Instagram account – which is ShyVioletPhotography.
I have many many props and I have toys to make them giggle and laugh … and you are welcome to bring their favourites to encourage their best smiles.

Newborn Outfits are not for everyone … and I cater for all aspects of newborn photography – from the very natural shots with little to no props, to the more elaborate, newborn art ideas – lots of which can be seen by clicking here to view the newborn image gallery.
