With all Covid restricitons lifted we are now very pleased to say we welcome families of any size including large family groups.
Family photo shoots can include babies from any age – you can combine the shoot to include, all family members, siblings and/or the baby or children on their own too.
Our studio is a very comfortable and warm space, designed to make you feel relaxed as soon as you come in with lots of soft seating, toys and props all on display.
As a general rule we offer the family portrait photo sessions on a white or light grey backdrop, but we can offer lots of other ideas too – please feel free to discuss any specific requirements you might have with us.
We are happy to offer a Combination Photo Shoot, where we can incorporate family shots one backdrop. and a second option for your little ones.

You don’t have to book a package, you can pay for the Photo Shoot at £39.00 and choose your own package once you have viewed all your wonderful images. Or if you know you’d like a canvas or framed print, then get in touch and we can give you a price. We have 1000s of frames for you to choose from and our luxury boxed canvases come in all sizes.
Following your family photo session with Shy Violet Photography, a Gallery of images will be online for 3 weeks on our Customer Only GALLERY website where you will be able to view your images in the privacy of your own home, and as many times as you like. The gallery can include black and white at no additonal charge.

My favourite time to capture your newborn baby in your Newborn Baby PhotoShoot is between 6 and 12 days as this is a wonderful age as a rule to capture the gorgeous, sleepy curled up shots that we all love. Up to 2 weeks is preferred but my Newborn Baby PhotoShoots go up to babies who are 4 weeks young but if your baby is slightly older and still sleeping well after feeds, please feel free to call me to discuss. Finley came to see me at just 8 days young 🙂 – Pics below …
If you have not yet had your baby, I recommend that you book in based on your due date and then if this changes, we move your Newborn shoot date. You do not lose your deposit if we do have to rearrange.
My newborn baby photoshoots are very relaxed – you will not be kept waiting – you will be straight in and I make you a brew and we can have a chat about what you’d like from your photo session. My studio is designed to make you feel relaxed and comfortable with lots of soft seating – and also offer chairs next to the newborn shoot area so that you can watch what I am doing all the time.
I offer family shots too in each package at no extra charge, and even if this is something you think you might like, come camera ready just in case :).
I offer the natural shots on blankets with and without props … through to the more creative Newborn Art images. Examples of which can be seen in the gallery of images – Click here. My Newborn SALE Packages are published on the webisite – please click here to view. Baby Photo Shoots from 5 months+
If you are thinking about booking a Baby Photo Shoot, the 5-6 months age is a wonderful time to capture their personality, smiles and giggles.
Your baby is learning to sit up and although perhaps not able to sit up unaided, we have baby chairs that can help with this, and PhotoShop which can edit out parents’ arms making sure they don’t fall. And at this age, personality is really taking shape and it’s an age I just love to photograph.
My studio baby photo sessions are very relaxed in a lovely warm, bright and airy environment, specially designed so that it looks like a soft play area for your baby – soft toys and props are on show in the studio so you have lots of choice for your photoshoot.
For the Baby Photo Shoot I provide chairs, suitcases, pails and other props such as ‘rocking horse’, hats, balloons …. lots and lots of choice for you … many of which can be seen in the gallery of images on the Baby Photo Shoot Page – click here to view.
We also have unique little vintage outfits which are specially made for Shy Violet Photography only (shown below) … all for girls at the moment, but boys outfits are being made for us too.
On arrival, we discuss the shots that you’d like before we start. I have various backdrops that you can choose from too, many of which can be seen in the gallery of images – to view please Click here. Between 28-36 weeks is the best time for a Pregnancy / Maternity photoshoot – This is when expecting mothers can enjoy the photo shoot and can still move around with the growing baby snug inside and when bump is full and round.
Our Pregnancy / Maternity photoshoots can be all about you and ’bump’ or family members can join in for a few shots too. We have props and gowns which we offer at no extra charge, and you are welcome to bring your own clothes and props too. We love the images which include the scan pic so always a good idea to bring one or 2 of these with you.
We offer the very natural maternity photography, plus the more creative side with butterflies, billowing material and chiffon – examples of which are shown in our image gallery. We would have a chat about your requirements prior to the shoot in our very informal, warm and relaxing studio.

Lenny’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash
Lenny came to Shy Violet Photography to celebrate his 1st birthday with a cake smash … which we call our ‘HAPPIMESS’ 3-in1 1st Birthday Cake Smash photoshoot.
It’s just the best and fun way to celebrate the 1st Birthday…. Letting them loose on a big bright and very gooey cake – what could be more fun? Watching their reactions and capturing them on camera is priceless.
Lenny brought along his mum and dad and his grandparents for a real 1st Birthday Celebration. We started with our wooden letters spelling ONE (which I turned to his colour scheme post shoot edit – pic below) …And then it was time for the Cake Smash… Mum had upgraded to our Piped Cake in green, blue and cream – so I’d colour matched all balloons and pompoms to the cake. Lenny loved his cake smash – pulling some very cute and delighted faces – and probably eating far more than he should. After he’s had enough of cake smashing, we then put him into our mini roll top bath where he splashed about for ages – playing with the bubbles and flooding the studio! 🙂

Hunter’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash
Hunter came to Shy Violet Photography to celebrate his 1st birthday with a cake smash … which we call our ‘HAPPIMESS’ 3-in1 1st Birthday Cake Smash photoshoot.
It’s just the best and fun way to celebrate the 1st Birthday…. Letting them loose on a big bright and very gooey cake – what could be more fun? Watching their reactions and capturing them on camera is priceless.
I first met Hunter as a newborn baby when he came for photos at just 10 days and had pics with this big brother Harrison too. So for his 1st birthday photo shoot Hunter started with pics of him and his borther again.
Following this we went straight into the ‘I am One photoshoot’. I have some large wooden letters which can be turned to virtually any colour in the post edit – you’ll see lots of different variations in my cake smash gallery – click here to view.
And then I brought on the cake for Hunter – and he loved it – pulling some very cute and delighted faces. Each package INCLUDES one of our standard cakes as shown in the pics in the gallery in a choice of colours (your choice) – made especially extra soft and gooey for maximum mess!! And then I brought on the cake for her – and she loved it – pulling some very cute and funny faces – quite a bit of pouting going on. Sienna came to the studio with her mum and dad … and best friend Millie (doggy). And we go some wonderful shots of them together. Mum and dad chose Package A – and their 6 chosen images are shown below.
