Paint Splash PhotoShoot
The Paint Splash is excellent fun and a great choice for all toddlers who are a bit camera shy. It can be used at any age or for a fun ‘messy play’ photoshoot and I feel that the Paint Splash is an excellent idea for those looking for photo ideas for the 2nd and 3rd birthdays and up.
Very often your toddlers are not only camera shy at the age of 2 and 3 , they can also be so on the go that they won’t sit still for photos – and I often hear customers say that they cannot get good photos at the toddler stage … bring on the paint splash! It’s great as way to capture natural smiles and giggles as they all love messy play … so we get some great fun shots as they mess about with and ‘in’ the paint creating loads of mess and colour. They get to paint a canvas too which you can take home to hang with the photos too if you wish.
As shown below, I use the ivory backdrop for the Paint Splash to keep it light to show off the bright colours – but you can choose another colour if preferred – please ask on booking. The Paint splash can be done for a birthday shoot, or just a fun shoot, and can include siblings – please see below for some images.
Packages start at £199 which includes the photoshoot, paints and canvas, plus prints and a collage / or digital images – please ask for a price list as these prices are not yet shown on our website. Balloons and pompoms can be included at no extra cost. If you have any ideas for a theme or colour scheme, please call to discuss.

Nevaeh’s Cake Smash Photoshoot
Nevaeh came to Shy Violet Photography to celebrate her 1st birthday with a cake smash … which we call our ‘HAPPIMESS’ 3-in1 1st Birthday Cake Smash photoshoot.
It’s just the best and fun way to celebrate the 1st Birthday…. Letting her loose on a big bright and very gooey cake – what could be more fun? Watching her joy, smiles and reactions and capturing them on camera is priceless.
Neveah was hilarious – she absolutely loved the shoot – not just the cake smashing part – but all of it – her expressions were fantastic. She made us all laugh out loud throughout and kept putting her face in the cake to eat it – pics below.
We started with our wooden letters spelling ONE (which I turned to his colour scheme post shoot edit – pic below) …And then it was time for the Cake Smash… Nevaeh loved her cake smash – literally shaking with delight at times! After she’d had enough of cake smashing, we then put her into our mini roll top bath where she splashed about for ages – playing with the bubbles and flooding the studio! 🙂
These 1st birthday cake smash photo shoots are fab! Sooooo much fun for your baby and for you as the parents … and for me too!

The Newborn baby stage is such a very special time to capture your little bundle and my very favourite time to capture your newborn baby is between 6 and 12 days as this is a wonderful age as a rule to capture the gorgeous, sleepy curled up shots that we all love. Up to 2 weeks is preferred but my Newborn Baby PhotoShoots go up to babies who are 4 weeks young but if your baby is slightly older and still sleeping well after feeds, please feel free to call me to discuss. Henry came to see me at almost 3.5 weeks (pics below).
If you have not yet had your baby, I do reccommend that you book in for your Newborn Baby Photoshoot based on your due date and then if this changes, we move your Newborn shoot date. You do not lose your deposit if we do have to rearrange.
My Newborn baby photo shoots are very relaxed – you will not be kept waiting – you will be straight in and I make you a brew and we can have a chat about what you’d like from your photo session. My studio is designed to make you feel relaxed and comfortable with lots of soft seating – and also offer chairs next to the newborn shoot area so that you can be and feel involved all the time.
Our new ‘Made with Love’ Newborn outfits are designed by me and hand-made only for Shy Violet Photography – You will see Henry wearing our new Blue ‘Made with Love’ dunagrees and hat together with matching pillow below.

If you are thinking about booking a Baby Photo Shoot, the 5-6 months age is a wonderful time to capture their personality, smiles and giggles.
Your baby is learning to sit up and although perhaps not able to sit up unaided, we have baby chairs that can help with this, and PhotoShop which can edit out parents’ arms making sure they don’t fall. And at this age, personality is really taking shape and it’s an age I just love to photograph.
My studio baby photo sessions are very relaxed in a lovely warm, bright and airy environment, specially designed so that it looks like a soft play area for your baby – soft toys and props are on show in the studio so you have lots of choice for your photoshoot.
For the Baby Photo Shoot I provide chairs, suitcases, pails and other props such as ‘rocking horse’, hats, balloons …. lots and lots of choice for you … many of which can be seen in the gallery of images on the Baby Photo Shoot Page – click here to view.
We also have unique little vintage outfits which are specially made for Shy Violet Photography only (shown below) … all for girls at the moment, but boys outfits are being made for us too.
On arrival, we discuss the shots that you’d like before we start.
