My studio has been designed to put you at your ease on arrival … it’s full of soft seating, soft toys and more props than a prop shop(!) but more importantly it’s very warm .. we keep your little ones nice and cosy warm during the photoshoot so don’t worry about them being cold. We do ask that you bring a blanket for your newborn baby but we also have plenty at the studio if needs be.

We are based in Springhead, Oldham, OL4 5TB click here to take you to a short video of our studio. The studio is on the first floor of the building so there are steps up. It doesn’t mean you can’t bring a pram … with a bit of effort we can get it up the stairs.
We have 4 galleries on the website showing you the various styles; from the very natural white/ivory images with little to no props, to the more creative composite images called ‘Swings and Things’ – You will find Galleries on the Top Tabs on the website – then choose one to view. Christmas choices can be seen on the Swings and Things Gallery.
Our Newborn Photo Sessions go up to 4 weeks with our favourite time to capture your newborn being between 6 and 12 days. But if you baby is over 4 weeks but is still sleeping well after feeds, you can always enquire about availability.

I call my cake smash photoshoots my 3-in-1 HAPPIMESS Shoot as it includes 3 shoots as 1 – the ONE wooden letters, the cake smash followed by the Tub /Splash photoshoot.
The cake smash is such a fun way to celebrate the 1st Birthday.…and at One your baby is full of wonder at everything that’s new to them … and very often it’s the first cake they’ve ever tasted … let alone be allowed to eat, smash up and sit on. So the 1st birthday is certainly a ‘one’derful time for the cake smash.
I first met Brody when he was just a few days old for his newborn photoshoot and his mums brought him back to me for his 1st Birthday celebration. What a gorgeous little fun loving boy he’s turned into. See a few pics below.

Having done 1st Birthday cake smashes for many many babies over the last 15 years … about 7 years ago I introduced the Doggy Cake Smash / Dog or Puppy Cake Smash.
These Dog Cake Smash photoshoots are done exactly the same way as a baby … ONE wooden letters to start with, the cake and the tub & wash off with bubbles. Sorry our cakes are the same too … so full of butter and sugar!!! But you don’t need to have one of our cakes … you are welcome to bring your own cake. Saying this, ours are specially made to be extra gooey and bright and colourful to add to the photoshoot.
Many customers say they’d love a doggy cake smash but just know that their dog wouldn’t sit still. Nellie didn’t really sit for more than a second at a time – so I had to be quick … but we got the best shots. And me and her pawrent had such fun … so many laughs.

I’ve been doing the cake smash shoots for over 14 years now … and it’s still one of the best and most memorable ways to celebrate the milestone 1st Birthday.
At One your baby is full of wonder at everything that’s new to them … and very often it’s the first cake they’ve ever tasted … let alone be allowed to eat, smash up and sit on. So the 1st birthday is certainly a ‘one’derful time for the cake smash.

It’s still such an amazing way to celebrate the 1st Birthday.…and after 14 years of cake smashing it is still one of my favourite shoots for the 1st Birthday.

Mia’s mum and dad have been to be 5 times previously … and I first met Mia in her newborn photoshoot last summer. Her mum asked me if I did a Strawberry themed cake smash which I didn’t at the time … but we soon sorted out a few props and a strawberry cake (made by us) and we were away!

Baby – ‘Half Way to One’ Photoshoot
The 6 Month Milestone for your baby’s photoshoot is such a wonderful time to capture your little one’s development … it’s a smiley, giggly time when personality is really shining through. An absolutely wonderful time for a photo shoot and a big milestone too with it being Half Way to One.
Your baby is learning to sit up at this 6 months stage … but don’t worry if your baby hasn’t quite managed it yet, we have lots of baby chairs and rockers to help and also arms of parents can easily be edited out to stop them from falling backwards (or sideways).
I’ve created a very relaxed studio environment … its a lovely warm, bright and airy space, specially designed so that it looks like a soft play area for your baby – soft toys and props are on show in the studio so you have lots of choice for your photoshoot. And you are welcome to bring along any props you’d like involved … and of course your pets too if you wish.
On arrival, we discuss the shots that you’d like before we start. I have various backdrops that you can choose from too, many of which can be seen in the gallery of images – to view please Click here. I have a few outfits we can use and many many props, I have toys to make them giggle and laugh … but you are welcome to bring their favourites to encourage their best smiles.

I absolutely love the 6 Month Milestone for your baby’s photoshoot: It is a time where personality is really shining through and a very smiley time for your baby with lots of giggles – so one of the best times to capture your baby during their early development. It’s also a huge milestone with them being ‘Half Way to One’.
Your baby is learning to sit up at this age and although perhaps not able to sit up unaided, we have baby chairs that can help with this, and PhotoShop which can edit out parents’ arms making sure they don’t fall.

Tiny Violets Photography part of Shy Violet Photography has almost 20 years worth of newborn photography experience … and as well, over these years, we have collected lots of ideas, props, outfits and accessories for your newborn baby photos. We only say up to 4 weeks old, as newborn babies are so much more alert at this time and it’s not so easy to get the sleepy curled up shots we all love if they are not asleep.

Azima had been to me previously with her elder daugher for a cake smash a few years ago … so when she booked again for her youngest’s 1st birthday, I offered them a free mini family shoot at the start … I offer this to all returning Cake Smash customers. A few of their chosen pics below…
Sofia loved her photoshoot … a born natural in front of the camera I think! And she ate it, smashed it, sat on it and generally gave us lots of laughs throughtout. Hard to get the balloons off her once she’d noticed them … but babies love balloons and got some great pics with these. She’s super gorgeous too as you will see in pics below.
